... In the Shadow of the Sun ...
Some say it is impossible ... maybe it seems so ... but everything is possible … if not here perhaps over there …
Our house in Radomice (Wünschendorf) originated at the end of the 17th century. From 1695 to 1946 the house was owned by the same German family. In the 19th century the property was called “Schindler” and contained 27 ha of the surrounding land. In 1876 Johann-Gottfried Schindler and his wife Henriette renovated and enlarged the house. Their daughter Marie-Luise married Karl-August Friedrich from Pasiecznik (Spiller) and from 1982 the property was called “Friedrich”.
Bruno, the son of Marie-Luise and Karl-August, who became the owner of the house in 1923, married Frieda Krischke from Pilchowice (Mauer).
Bruno and Frieda Friedrich had four children, three sons and daughter, the oldest son perished in the World War II.
The family was deported in 1946 and settled in Lüdenscheid in West Germany.
In May 2010 visited us Joachim Friedrich, the grandson of Bruno and Frieda Friedrich ...
Certainly the original building looked completely different from the present one. Perhaps it was a small house to which some external walls and a large farm shed were added. The ceiling construction suggests the beginning of the 20th century.
During renovation many questions arose. One could only guess the answer. There were some interesting discoveries: a half-timbered wall construction, a wooden pipe delivering water to the house and a cannon bullet possibly associated with Napoleon’s army marching over this land.
Renovation of this house was a real challenge which proved to be a bumpy road with several adventures. The goal however remained unchanged – we wanted a house with a soul, friendly to the environment, comfortable, but retaining much of its original ambience. We tried to arrange the space in such a way that the privacy of our own home is maintained, whilst our Guests feel free and relaxed.
Interiors arranged by Ania display colours in a warm light among old wooden construction, half-timbered and stone walls. Three factors: the condition of the old house, the richness of surrounding colours and our own imagination were an inspiration to create a new look for this old house.
Our efforts resulted in a house full of light even when it is raining outside.
We welcome you to our house and to the magic mountains!
